Swati Apte
Living in the U.S., Swati gave her New York solo debut at the Merce Cunningham Studio in April to outstanding critical response. Initiated into classical dance at an early age, she started training in Bharatanatyam, but over the past six years, has shifted to Odissi, under the guidance of Debi Basu and Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra in Orissa, India. "With her winsome smile, well-rounded body, and fluid gestures, she made one think of the paragraph describing a nartaki....."
