PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Our commitment to preserving and spreading Odissi dance in North America and beyond, led to Trinayan Dance Theater launching our first professional repertory training program in October 2010. The audition based program provides pristine and authentic training to advance dancers who have a solid background in Odissi (PROFESSIONAL DIVISION) or other genres (PRE-PROFESSIONAL DIVISION) via subsidized program rates. For 8 months, Dancers learn as apprentices with Trinayan through: monthly intensives with our award-winning artistic director/choreographer- Smt. Leena Mohanty , weekly classes, specialized workshops with renowned Guru Durga Charan Ranbir, and independent study. Apprentices are guided to achieve their full artistic expression by building upon their foundational knowledge, development of technique, and increasing their understanding of the classical text of Indian dance and its use in fine art, music, poetry and movement. The program also covers new repertoire, and teaches the essence of choreography, performance and stage presence. Senior apprentices also have opportunities to perform with the dance company.
