Dear
Friends,
Trinayan Collective is performing at Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors as
part of a Saraswati Festival, a celebration of the goddess of learning
and creativity. It's free, you can bring the kids and there are a range
of performers, live musicians and arts events. No RSVP required.
"Come enjoy a kaleidoscopic pageant of dancing, music, yoga, painting
and poetry created by Elise Long through a commission from Lincoln Center
of the Performing Arts, Inc. for Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors.
On Wednesday August 11th from 5:30-7:30 pm, Lincoln Center Out-Of-Doors
presents a new intergenerational, multi-arts event by Elise Long , performed
by Spoke the Hub Dancing and Friends, entitled "Community of Creativity:
A Garland For Saraswati" . More "pageant" then traditional performance,
this site specific work celebrates learning and all the arts while featuring
the work of over 100 predominantly Brooklyn based artists of all ages
and artistic disciplines. Ms. Long's latest hybrid extravaganza helps
kick off the opening week of festivities at the Lincoln Center Out-Of-Doors
Festival, now in its 34th season. Following "A Garland For Saraswati"
the audience is invited to stay and enjoy an "Evening With Tibet" through
music and dance at 8:00 pm in Damrosch Park Bandshell. "A Garland
For Saraswati" is a free, interactive, and family
friendly event. For further information on this particular program,
please call Spoke the Hub at: 718-408-3234."

About Neel: the eternal
blue This showcase explores the iconography of the blue deities within
the Hindu pantheon. Neel, the Sanskrit word for blue represents the seamless
expanse of ocean and sky where various shades of blue embody the divine.
These manifestations range from the blackish-blue Goddess Kali, the dusky-blue
divine flute-player Krishna to the blue-throated Lord Shiva.
